Laws of the mind

In the last blog post we addressed the first law of the mind: Cause and Effect. If you did not read Part 1 of this blog series, you can find it here: https://richcavaness.com/2018/07/17/the-eight-universal-laws-of-the-mind-part-1/
We are now going to move onto the 2nd and 3rd universal laws of the mind. Number 2 is:
The Law of Control

This law states that you will feel happy to the degree with which you feel you are in control of your own life.
I think most of us can relate to this law, because the reverse is true as well. We feel unhappy to the degree with which we feel out of control of our own life. The Bible tells us that God is not a God of confusion or chaos. That tells me that our lives shouldn’t be that way either. This is where you either accept responsibility for your life, or you become a victim. You are a free moral agent. You make your own choices and decisions in your life. You are either confident, happy, and courageous, or you can be a victim and allow your life to be controlled by others or circumstances.
Most people are not in control at all. They are controlled by the fast food industry, the beverage industry, the music and movie industry, the fashion industry, the credit card industry, the sports industry, the advertising industry, and the anti-God industry. The question is, what controls you?
The Law of Belief

This law states that whatever you believe with conviction becomes your reality. The Bible, of all books on planet earth, teaches the importance of our beliefs. As a matter of fact the word “belief” is found hundreds of times in the Bible along with some great illustrations of its importance. Proverbs 23:7 says, “That as a man thinks in his heart, that is what he becomes.” In Mark 9:23 the Bible says, “If you can believe, all things are possible to them who believe.” Jesus Christ Himself said this about belief in Matthew 9 and 15, “According to your faith it will be done to you.” And “Dear woman, you really do have a lot of faith, and you will be given what you want.” One thing I have discovered about the word belief is that people do not believe what they see, they actually see what they already believe! So let’s define what a belief actually is:
A belief is a feeling of certainty about something, whether it’s true or false. It is developed by the many references in your life you have used to establish it. You see, you can develop beliefs about anything if you find enough references in your life to establish it in your mind. Your beliefs affect everything in your life. Some of these beliefs are good, but many are not and they are very destructive in our lives. Often a single experience in our past creates a negative belief that we carry through our lives, even if it’s not true! The truth is that most of our beliefs are generalizations about our past, based on our perceptions of the pain or pleasure our experiences cause. Most of us underestimate the power of our beliefs.
Here’s how it works. Once a belief is accepted, your belief becomes an unquestioned command to your nervous system. Then that belief has the power to increase or limit the possibilities of your life! Beliefs have the power to create and they have the power to destroy. Our Creator God has given us the awesome ability to take any experience in our lives, and create a meaning for it, and that meaning can either destroy your life, or it can create a meaning that will literally save and enrich your life. In taking your life to the next level of personal success, one of the key steps will be to challenge your limiting and disempowering beliefs. Please never forget this important point, the biggest limitations you place in your life are those you place on yourself!
