Self-Esteem

In psychology, the term self-esteem is used to describe a person’s overall sense of self-worth or personal value. Self-esteem can involve a variety of beliefs about self, such as the appraisal of one’s own appearance, beliefs, emotions and behaviors. Self-esteem is really about if you like yourself, if you think you are a good person, if you think you have several good qualities, or if you think you deserve good things.
There are two parts to Self-esteem: External and Internal
External Self-esteem is the feeling you receive when you accomplish something or how you feel when you are in a specific role and/or environment. For example, lets say you are a manager at your place of work. You might feel you have a high self-esteem because of the situation/role you’re in. However, when you go outside your place of work, you lose those powerful, confident feelings because they are not coming from within. The self-esteem was role/situation based. This is the external, temporary form of self-esteem.
Internal Self-esteem is seeing one’s self as a worthy human being. It is what you think of yourself. It is your overall value of yourself and how worthy you feel you are. This all comes down to the beliefs you have about yourself.
High self-esteem is a natural feeling that comes from within, and once you change the beliefs that are blocking you from feeling it, you restore your inborn feeling of high self-esteem.
Self-esteem questions:

- Do you believe you are a worthy human being?
- Do you feel good about yourself?
- Do you like, love and respect yourself?
- Do you feel you deserve success and happiness?
What is the difference between Self-image and Self-esteem?
Self-image is the total of all the impressions which you have of yourself while self-esteem is a person’s overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth. Self-image is the mental picture that is quite resistance to change and depicts not only details that are potentially accessible to objectives by others but also items that have been learned by that person. In self-esteem, this reflects a person’s overall evaluation of his/her own worth encompassing beliefs and emotions such as despair, triumph, pride and shame.
Self-image

In Psychology, the term self-image is used to describe the way a person feels about his or her personality, achievements and value to society. How you view yourself, i.e. intelligent, attractive, unattractive, popular, stupid, loser, etc. Your self-image is all of the impressions that you have of yourself. It is built up of your impressions about your body, age, sex, intelligence, personal ability, personality traits, job, achievements, and how you feel about those impressions.
There are three parts to self-image:
- Self-image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself
- Self-image resulting from how others see the individual
- Self-image resulting from how the individual perceives others seeing him or her
Bottom line truth:
You are valuable…
You are worth it…
You are special creation meant for a unique and important purpose…
